Resumen/Abstract |
El artículo se ocupa de estudiar las características e influencia del proyecto historiográfico iniciado por la Compañía de Jesús a finales del siglo XVI. La Orden deseaba contar con una historia pormenorizada de los diferentes lugares donde se había establecido, así como de sus provincias, con el objeto de elaborar la historia “general” del instituto. De manera que se expone el contenido del mencionado proyecto, y se analiza la forma como los autores de las primeras crónicas relativas a la provincia mexicana siguieron el guión temático establecido por el prepósito general, Claudio Aquaviva.
The article studies the characteristics and influence of the historiographic project begun by the Society of Jesus in the late 16th century. The Society of Jesus wished to have a detailed history of the various places where it had been established, as well as its provinces, in order to draw up a “general” history of the institute. The article explains the contents of this project and analyzes the way the authors of the early chronicles on the Mexican province followed the script established by the superior, Claudio Aquaviva. |
